atirom is an innovative food company founded in 2019 with the desire to support local producers, chefs, and any people related to food services. They have always been seeking solutions to improve challenges as where various ingredients that are carefully produced every day are not easily found and discarded before they reach consumers, or where a local chef wants to leave their region and try something new but has no clue what to do first.

Can they be reborn as a fine ingredient if we add a little modification? – atirom will start the business of producing delicious “Love In Leftovers.”

The first rollout of this “Love In Leftovers.” project is “Castella Rusk” which is made from sponge edges of castella, which is provided by Imuraya.

Imuraya Startup Planning Corporation (I-SUP), a joint venture between Imuraya Group Co., Ltd. and PIEF, is a strategic subsidiary with the role of business planning and incubation, and the mission of creating new businesses in Japan and overseas for the entire Imuraya Group.

Imuraya manufactures castella sold at Seven-Eleven, Lawson and Family Mart, and this product uses castella edges produced in the manufacturing process. Originally, you can enjoy the savory and rich taste of the edge part, but it is usually removed because the shape and color tend to be uneven after baking. This became atirom’s focus.

The castella edges are hand-baked by atirom’s patissier team and coated with Dari K’s chocolate. Enjoyment comes from the rich sweetness of the castella, the light texture of the airy dough, and the fruity sour chocolate combination provided by Dari K, an up-and-coming chocolate company with an international reputation.
