ABEJA, an investee of Inspire Investment Corporation and PIEF, in cooperation with MITSUBISHI GAS CHEMICAL COMPANY, INC. (hereinafter “MGC”), has developed a visual inspection system for corroded piping in chemical plants using the AEBJA Platform as its base and started its operations at MGC’s Niigata facility in January 2022.

This is the first time that the ABEJA Platform has been applied to the chemical plant. In this initiative, Digital Transformation(DX) for the visual inspection of corroded piping was realized using the”Human-in-the-Loop Machine Learning” (human participation type machine learning) approach, which carries out operations by cooperation of the AI platform and its human partner.。

In addition to the development of the system, the two companies jointly filed a patent application on January 31, 2022 for inventions related to plant operations utilizing the-Human-in-the-Loop Machine Learning. In the future, they will continue to operate this system together, collect images, and relearn AI models. Starting with this project, they will work on further DX projects (or developments) in the chemical plants.
